Motorists are facing heavy disruption this afternoon after a serious multi-vehicle collision forced the closure of a section of the A42 southbound carriageway.
Leicestershire Police confirmed around 1:25 p.m. on Sunday, 21 September, that the A42 between junctions 11 and 13 had been shut following the road traffic collision (RTC). Drivers are being diverted off the carriageway at junction 12 (Measham / Ashby-De-La-Zouch).
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, are currently at the scene. Witnesses have reported a significant presence of emergency vehicles and long delays in the area.
Traffic monitoring sites reported stationary traffic and congestion stretching back from junction 12, with motorists advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
