HAWTHORNE, CA — A night out ended in tragedy early Friday morning when a woman was shot and killed outside a sports bar in Hawthorne, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The fatal incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. in the 11000 block of South Inglewood Avenue, in the parking lot of a shopping center that houses the bar. Deputies from LASD and officers from the Hawthorne Police Department responded swiftly to 911 calls reporting a shooting.
Upon arrival, authorities found an adult female victim lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to provide aid, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s identity has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of her next of kin. Authorities described her only as an adult female and have not provided additional details about her age or connection to the bar.
Footage captured by the independent news service Traffic News L.A. (TNLA) shows a heavy law enforcement presence in the area as shocked bar patrons and bystanders lingered near the scene.
Police cordoned off the parking lot with yellow caution tape while investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. A white canopy was later erected, signifying that a fatal incident had occurred.
According to unconfirmed witness reports shared by TNLA, the shooting may have stemmed from a heated altercation between two women inside or near the bar.
One eyewitness claimed that the victim was forcibly removed from a vehicle and shot multiple times in the abdomen during the dispute. However, law enforcement officials have not confirmed these details and declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.
As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made, and no suspect descriptions have been released. Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about what led to the shooting to come forward.
“This is an active homicide investigation,” LASD officials stated. “We are asking members of the public who were at or near the scene, or who may have relevant video or details, to contact us immediately.”
